Favourite Walk Protected

Favourite WalkAndrew Gwynne, the Labour MP for Audenshaw and Denton is backing the United Utilities improvement works to Gorton Reservoir in their ‘Audenshaw estate’ for the substantial benefits that they will bring.

Favourite Walk, which is part of a local trail linking to the King’s Road and Debdale Lane in between Fairfield & Denton golf courses (known locally as Stone Walls or Kingswater) will be closed for around 6 months from 10th March whilst works are carried on the reservoir. Crest Path is due to be reopened to public use on 10th March, marking the successful completion of the first phase of the improvement works.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“Favourite Walk is a local historic and natural treasure that needs to be protected for the future, and this is what these improvement works will ensure.”

Local Audenshaw campaigner Jean Brazil said:

“This is a very much valued piece of open space, and I am glad that United Utilities are taking their responsibility to protect the natural environment seriously. Favourite Walk will be closed during these works, but will be protected for the future for the benefit of the whole community.”
